Bakery Blues is a true telling of my year as a bakery clerk for The Safeway Corporation.

I went into the bakery excited about baking, and left with a deeper understanding of the human condition, what it means to be part of a team, and what to do when the team you are on isn't playing by the rules.

There's also a very nice poem in the middle that I hope you enjoy.

The book describes the author's experience of an year working at the bakery section of Safeway. It is a first-person account the dynamics in retail stores and some of the challenges faced. The author brings out areas where customer service becomes a dilemma.

Recommend the book to understand some of the areas that come up as corporate contradictions between pricing, efficiency and what is good for the customer. It also serves as a checkpoint - the world is becoming so mechanized that the personal… (plus)
